The countries below have laws on dual citizenship (being a citizen of two countries at the same time). Many countries have restrictions regarding losing or acquiring additional citizenship and for that reason they are not listed below. For more information about losing your present citizenship when you naturalize as a U.S. citizen, speak with a representative of your government. Even if your country allows dual citizenship you are required by U.S. law to use a U.S. passport to leave and re-enter the United States after becoming a U.S. citizen. The countries marked with an asterisk (*) have restrictions.
