2017 | Brooklyn College

Dance Caribbean COLLECTIVE is an organising body that facilitates and promotes Caribbean Dance Performance and Community Engagement. The organization’s base is in Brooklyn, and aims to cultivate audiences to appreciate and respond to contemporary dance choreography, cultural practice and performance led by Caribbean Artists. The collective has been in existence going on 2 years with our signature event being the New Traditions Festival. New Traditions is an incubator and performance platform for dance works centered around Caribbean culture that can connect to Caribbean-American and wider audiences through dialogue, workshops and concert dance. We believe in bridging the gap between the generations, between audiences and performers, between tradition and innovation and between the nationalities of the Diaspora. DCC lead artists all design and produce our events, present their choreography and aid administratively to our mission.
