As a charter member of the WC2 (World Class World Cities) university network, CUNY is one of twelve major metropolitan universities that play a leading role in addressing the challenges facing global cities, often in concert with their respective stakeholders in local government and the private sector. WC2 seeks to leverage and amplify its members’ expertise by providing a forum for exploration of urban challenges through its research clubs in the areas of transport, global health, sustainability, business and cultural/creative industries.
Baruch College has spearheaded CUNY’s leading role in WC2 and hosted its spring 2013 international conference, and is working to increase participation among faculty throughout CUNY. WC2 hosts two annual events per year, including a summer symposium for the research clubs to convene.
CUNY faculty interested in participating in WC2 can learn more about opportunities to reinforce and extend their global networks through WC2 by contacting Baruch’s Vice-Provost for Global Strategy Professor Myung-Soo Lee. Funding for participation in WC2 activities must be approved by department chairs or other College sources.
