Installer and Contractor Resources

Sustainable CUNY conducts Solar Installer Workshops around New York State where installers can learn area specific best practices from building departments, utilities, finance programs and NYSERDA. Sustainable CUNY also convenes a NYC and NYS Installer Roundtable, a forum for exchanging information, workshop opportunities, RFP and RFI notices, and industry updates. An archive of workshops and more information for NY Solar Contractors can be found on the NY Solar Portal

If you would like to join the NYC and/or NYS Solar Installer Roundtable, please send a request with your solar company email to nysolar@cuny.edu.

NYC Solar Contractor Resources

America’s City of Skyscrapers has its own unique challenges when it comes to installing solar. Sustainable CUNY is working with Con Edison, NYSERDA, the NYC Department of Buildings, and the FDNY to shorten and streamline the permitting and interconnection processes for installing solar in NYC. Installers and Contractors can find detailed information about Installing Solar in NYC on the NY Solar Map and Portal.

Solar Connect

The NY Solar Map gives consumers the option to go beyond just viewing the solar potential of their property. They can choose to take action by connecting with solar installers in several ways through Solar Connect on the NY Solar Map and Portal. All NY-Sun eligible installers are invited to participate in Solar Connect, the NY Solar Map’s lead generation platform. Solar Connect is free and easy to use. NY-Sun eligible installers were sent an invitation email from the Solar Map system. If you did not receive an invitation or your company has recently become NY-Sun eligible, please contact nysolar@cuny.edu.
