NYSolar Smart

The NYSolar Smart plan is a strategic effort led by Sustainable CUNY of the City University of New York (CUNY) that supports federal, state and NYC initiatives to implement solutions to lower the soft costs of installing solar across New York State. Sustainable CUNY works in partnership with NYPA, NYSERDA, municipalities around the state, and more than 40 organizations representing utility companies, installers, government agencies and industry leaders.

In 2010 Sustainable CUNY established the Solar Ombudsmen program to support the burgeoning solar market and to help reduce soft costs. Through partnerships with key stakeholders, the Ombudsmen are focused on streamlining the process of going solar and serve as resources to installers, municipalities and utilities.
