The University currently enrolls over 2,500 veterans. Many veterans and students enrolled in the reserves, unlike other students, stand the risk of being abruptly called to active duty at any time during the academic year. In 2003, over 350 students were deployed into Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Each campus veterans' liaison provides direct support to veteran students in the areas of academic and personal counseling, cetification of eligibility for VA benefits, ongoing financial aid counseling, referrals for housing assistance, and assisance in obtaining available services and resources.
