Am I eligible to apply for SIROCS?
SIROCS applicants must be:
- enrolled in an undergraduate degree program at a CUNY college
- be a United States citizen or permanent resident
- be residents of New York City
- have a gross family income of $75,000 or less, and
- have filed a FAFSA by March 17, 2014.
Macaulay Honors College students are eligible for NYCT funding through a separate application process and should refer to the Macaulay Study Abroad site for details.
Macaulay students are not eligible for consideration through the application described here.
Is the program I’m interested in eligible for support for SIROCS funding?
Applicants may apply for SIROCS funding for a program or experience with a clear experiential component or components that will support your preparedness for your intended professional field. Programs or independently organized experiences must take place in a cross-cultural setting (usually outside the United States) and have a minimum length of two weeks. Most programs will be in the summer of 2014; however, the SIROCS Committee will also consider proposals for funding for appropriate fall semester programs and experiences. Although most proposals will be for credit-bearing programs, non-credit bearing projects (e.g. volunteer work, non-credit internships) will also be considered.
SIROCS is the successor program to STOCS; current eligibility rules and application procedures apply.
