In the two months since hurricane Maria devastated their homelands, scores of Puerto Ricans and Virgin Islanders have sought refuge and relief in the United States. Among the uprooted are students currently enrolled in colleges or universities there, and while their respective infrastructures are rebuilt, the City University of New York (CUNY) has announced that it will foster these students to stay on track toward degree completion: The CUNY Disaster Relief Plan (CDRE) and the Heckscher Foundation for Children Scholarship.

These important initiatives cover tuition and fees at CUNY.

Further information on  and criteria for eligibility for either of these efforts can be found here.
